Soundbar Stolen in Shoplifting Incident
On Sunday, February 27, 2022 shortly after 3:00 p.m. the Stratford Police Service was contacted regarding a shoplifting incident that had just occurred at Walmart, located at 920 Ontario Street, in the City of Stratford. Officers attended and learned that an unknown male had approached staff requesting to exchange a soundbar for several other items within his cart. The staff member became suspicious of the request for the exchange and contacted the store manager when security features were observed on the box for the soundbar. Once the manager was requested to attend, the unknown male removed the soundbar from the cart and left the store, making no attempt to pay for the item. Staff followed the male out of the store and watched as he entered into a silver GMC SUV being driven by an unknown female. The SUV was last observed leaving the Walmart parking lot onto Ontario Street heading westbound away from the store. The male was described as a white male, 6:0” – 6’3” with a large build. At that time, he was wearing a black hoodie with white lettering “RVCA” on the front, black sweatpants, black shoes, black ballcap, and a black mask. The female driver of the SUV was described as having dyed pink or red hair and was wearing a black long sleeve shirt with white lettering on the left sleeve.
The vehicle involved was described as a silver GMC Envoy, approximately 2005 model with black window tint. The vehicle had an Alberta licence plate attached to the rear, which is listed as being unattached and expired in 2006. The Stratford Police Service is requesting the assistance of the public with identifying the male and female involved in this theft.
